A journey to Bag making
Well hello there!I've put myself in a new home because I missed writing.
You'll know I've been on quite a journey if you've followed me for a while.
Welcome new and old friends, I'm glad you're here.
It all started with papercrafting and I did that for about 23 years. In that time I've taught classes, sold my cards in shops, taught on YouTube and been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. Phew!
Then 5 years ago I took the plunge and bought a sewing machine. I had been admiring (drooling over) sewing boards on Pinterest for a long time and wondered if I could make anything remotely beautiful.
Sewing has been a journey of discovery. I started off with small projects like coin purses and tissue holders, tried my hand at dressmaking watched HOURS of YouTube tutorials and finally found my niche. Bag making. Let's not call it obsessive, instead, we'll say I'm very passionate about bagmaking! It's so much fun and I just love it.
What I missed most about Stampin' Up! is the friendship group of like-minded people. Don't get me wrong, I'm still close with a few of my SU buddies but I also needed to be part of a new gang.
Thankfully I found the 7t7 club which is run by Emma Brassfield. There is TONS of information, classes, guest speakers, free and discount patterns included but the most important part for me is my bagmaking tribe :) Let me tell you, they are my sewing besties!
This is the Luna Backpack by Studio 7t7, such a fab design.
I still find it hard to follow a pattern alone, I definitely need the help of a YouTube tutorial and of course the advice of other bag makers.
What do you love to make? Has your crafting journey evolved over the years?
I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.
My confidence has grown along with my fabric stash, lol! Although I still call myself a beginner sewer who attempts intermediate-level patterns.
It's a journey and I'm loving it.
Chat soon,
Love Esther xx
